A pioneer in textile artistry, Faye Chatzi has spent years collaborating with archaeologists, decoding the intricate weaving techniques of antiquity. Her dedication to authenticity is unparalleled—her work is executed entirely by hand, without electricity, using only the finest natural materials sourced from the Cycladic landscape.
Every fibre she weaves tells a story of sustainability and cultural continuity. Chatzi’s textiles are crafted from ethically sourced Mykonian wool, spun from free-roaming sheep on Mykonos and Rheneia. The wool is sheared in late spring, washed in the Aegean’s crystalline waters, and sun-dried before undergoing a traditional hand-carding process. The silk she employs is cultivated through the Peace Silk Method, ensuring silkworms complete their natural lifecycle before the delicate fibres are collected. Her organic dyes, drawn from the island’s earthy hues, further deepen the connection between nature and craft.
Each woven piece is a tribute to an ancient world, reinterpreted for the modern era.
